Tools and Materials Checklist
What to have on hand before you open the first box.
Tools
- Utility knife with fresh blades
- Tape measure, pencil and speed square
- Tapping block and pull bar
- Rubber mallet
- 1/4″ spacers
- Jamb saw or oscillating tool for door casings
- Jigsaw for cutting around pipes and vents
- Knee pads
Materials
- Flooring plus 10% for cuts (15% for diagonal layouts)
- 6 mil vapor barrier for concrete
- Floor patch for low spots
- Transitions, reducers and stair nose where needed
- Baseboard or quarter round to cover the expansion gap
